The significant contribution of well-trained Patrol dogs no longer need to be proven. From malls to parking area to open veld, or the confines of a building, the security dog is invaluable in providing an extra layer of protection.

There are several types of Security Dogs:

​

1. Mobile Patrol Dogs linked to a Supervisor or handler who visits sites randomly and conducts patrol.

2. Security dogs manning a site in conjunction with a security officer.

3. Search and Detection security dogs that are trained to search for specific things like cadavers, drugs or explosives.

4. Security dogs in conjunction with Security can be deployed to events and riots and act as a visual deterrent to disturbances or unwanted behaviour.
